Frequently Asked Questions

We know starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s completely normal to have questions. Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions we hear. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, feel free to reach out — we’re happy to help.

Who is therapy for? Therapy is for anyone seeking support, clarity and meaningful change. You don’t need to be in crisis — sometimes just having a space to talk, reflect, and feel heard can make a real difference. Are you... -A young adult navigating life transitions, identity questions, or anxiety about the future -A parent feeling overwhelmed by responsibilities, guilt, or the pressure to hold everything together -A busy professional juggling high demands, burnout, or a sense of disconnection -Someone carrying the weight of past trauma, grief, or unresolved emotional pain -Feeling stuck, lost, or simply not like yourself—and wanting to understand why If you’re ready to explore what’s going on beneath the surface, therapy offers a place to slow down, reconnect with yourself and move forward with greater awareness and resilience.

What is the therapy process like? We begin with a free consultation to see if we’re a good fit for each other. This is a chance for you to ask questions, share what’s bringing you in, and get a feel for how we might work together—no pressure, just a conversation. If we decide to move forward, the first official session will be an intake appointment. This 60-90 minute session is focused on gathering background information—such as your history, current concerns, and goals for therapy—so we can build a clear, personalized path forward. Ongoing sessions are typically 50 minutes long (other options available) and held weekly or biweekly, depending on your needs and goals. We offer primarily telehealth sessions, with limited in-person availability, and currently work with clients who reside in Missouri. In therapy, we’ll work collaboratively to understand your experiences, identify patterns, and build on your existing strengths. Our approach is eclectic, drawing from a variety of evidence-based practices, and always trauma-informed and strength-based. Together, we’ll explore what’s holding you back, identify your strengths, and support meaningful, lasting change. Ready to begin? Do you accept insurance? We are a private pay practice, which means we do not bill insurance directly. Payment is due at the time of each session and can be made by credit/debit card, HSA/FSA card, or other accepted methods. If you have out-of-network benefits, we can provide a superbill (an itemized receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. We recommend checking with your insurer to understand your out-of-network coverage. We also offer limited sliding scale spots based on financial need. Please mention this during your consultation to discuss availability and eligibility.

Do you offer sliding scale fees or payment plans? How do I pay for sessions? Yes, we offer a limited number of sliding scale spots based on financial need. If cost is a concern, please don’t hesitate to reach out — we’re happy to discuss options and see if we have availability. While we don’t offer formal payment plans, we strive to be flexible and compassionate when it comes to financial accessibility. Payment is due at the time of each session. We accept major credit and debit cards, as well as HSA/FSA cards. All payments are processed securely through our electronic system. If you have any questions about billing, we're here to help.
